Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has apologized on behalf of his daughter who had assaulted a doctor.
A video clip, which went viral, showed Milari Chhangte, the CM’s daughter, slapping a dermatologist at an Aizawl clinic on August 17.
“We have nothing to justify or say in defence of our daughter’s behaviour towards the doctor. We ask forgiveness from the doctor and the public,” the CM posted on Instagram.
Milari was reportedly upset after the doctor refused to see her without an appointment.
The incident outraged the medical community and led to doctors’ protests in the state. Members of Indian Medical Association (IMA) in Mizoram wore black badges to their work places on Saturday.
Zoramthanga thanked the IMA for not initiating any “stringent action” against Milari.
