Washington: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who landed in Washington on Wednesday evening (local time), kicked off his three-day visit to the US by meeting some CEOs of leading global companies of different sectors.
First up in the morning was a meeting with Cristiano R. Amon, president and CEO of Qualcomm.
According to Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), Modi had a productive interaction with Amon, who expressed keenness to work with India in areas like 5G and other Digital India efforts.
“President and CEO of @Qualcomm @cristianoamon and PM @narendramodi had a productive interaction. PM Modi highlighted the vast opportunities India offers. Mr. Amon expressed keenness to work with India in areas such as 5G and other @_DigitalIndia efforts,” PMO India tweeted.
Qualcomm has been a world leader in 3G, 4G and next-generation wireless technology innovations for over three decades and is now pioneering in 5G with new-era intelligent products.
Modi then met Adobe chairman, president and CEO Shantanu Narayen, an Indian-American.
“Discussions focussed on leveraging technology to provide smart education to youngsters and enhance research. They also discussed the vibrant start-up sector in India, powered by the Indian youth,” PMO informed.
Modi also held one-on-one meetings with First Solar CEO Mark Widmar, General Atomics Global Corporation chief executive Vivek Lall (another Indian-American) and Stephen Schwarzman, chairman, CEO and co-founder of Blackstone.
Modi was scheduled to meet US Vice-President Kamala Harris later in the day, ahead of a QUAD meeting.
On Friday, the Indian Prime Minister is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly and also hold a bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden.
