Bhubaneswar: The south-west monsoon, which has entered 15 districts of Odisha including five districts on Sunday, is expected to cover the remaining districts in the next 36 hours, said a release by the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar.
According to the release, the monsoon, which had entered most parts of Nabarangpur, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati and Rayagada districts on Saturday, has entered some parts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Khurda and Puri districts in the morning on Sunday.
Considering the favourable condition, it is expected that the monsoon will enter the remaining districts in the next 36 hours.
On the other hand, a low pressured formed over the north-east Bay of Bengal on Saturday is most likely to intensify into a deep depression in the next 12 hours.
Under its influence, there would be widespread rain in most parts of the state. While heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur in Balasore, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kalahandi, Balangir and Nuapada districts, rain and thundershower would occur at some places in Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts during the period, the release added.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea as the sea condition would be rough due to the strong and gusty surface wind reaching 40-50 kmph.
