Bhubaneswar: The monsoon session of Odisha Assembly came to an end on Tuesday amid ruckus by BJP members over Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s statement in the House, terming the Opposition as ‘anti-people’, and suspension of two party MLAs Mohan Majhi and Mukesh Mahaling.
Assembly Speaker Pramila Mallik adjourned the House sine die one day ahead of the schedule date of the session, during which only eight starred questions out of the 770 asked by the members could be discussed. Two adjournment motions allowed by the speaker also could not be taken up for discussion due to the noisy scenes.
Thirteen bills, including the supplementary appropriation bill 2023, were passed without any discussion. The supplementary budget of Rs 28,200 crore was also passed in the House.
The monsoon session began on September 22 with the election of Mallik as its new Speaker. It was scheduled to continue till October 4.
