Bhubaneswar: With the onset of monsoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday forecast heavy rain in several parts of Odisha during the next five days.
“The southwest monsoon has set in over Odisha covering Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts and some parts of Nuapada, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts,” the MeT office said.
IMD scientist Umashankar Das told the media that rainfall activity has increased and become widespread in Odisha. Temperature too has dipped across the state. “Many parts saw heavy to very heavy rainfall. We expect monsoon to advance further into the state in 2-3 days,” he added.
