Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday said that the conditions are likely to become favourable for the onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala around May 31.
“The well-marked low-pressure area (remnant of Cyclone Yaas) over Bihar and adjoining East Uttar Pradesh now lies over eastern parts of East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar and the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. The system is very likely to move northwestwards and weaken further into a low-pressure area during the next 12 hours,” it said.
While Odisha will witness light to moderate rain till June 1, the Met Office has issued yellow warning of thunderstorm with lightning for three days from May 30

May 28: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and Kalahandi.
May 29: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely at one or two places in coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur.
May 30: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely at a few places in North coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places in the rest districts.
Yellow warning
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph very likely to occur at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Rayagada and Gajapati.
May 31: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places inMalkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest of the districts.

June 1: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
