Bhubaneswar: As many as 1350 internet access points have been made operational in Odisha capital, making it possible for city denizens to access free Wi-Fi services.
The Smart City Bhubaneswar will have 518 hotspots with 1800 access points under the “BhubaneswarMe Wi-Fi’’ project, which was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in 2018 when 100 hotspots with 275 Access Points (APs) went live. The free Wi-Fi service was then limited to the railway stations only.
A Bhubaneswar Smart City Limited (BSCL) official said that the remaining 450 access points will go live soon. “People mostly belonging to the backward classes and the meritorious students in the city can take advantage of this service,” the official added.
A total of 50 MB high-speed free internet will be provided daily under the initiative.
One should be within 100, 200 or 300 metres of reach of the access point to login into the network.
