Jagatsinghpur: A day after accusing him of failing to turn up for marriage registration, Tirtol BJD MLA Bijaya Shankar Das’ girlfriend Somalika lodged a complaint at Jagatsinghpur police station here on Saturday.
In her complaint, Somalika has accused the MLA of cheating and harassment. She further alleged that she and her family are being threatened by MLA’s relatives.
Somalika had returned home after waiting for Bijaya Shankar at the court here for over three hours on Friday. “He had promised that he would come today for the marriage. He neither turned up nor is responding to my phone calls now. I am not sure what has happened. Either he might have been kidnapped or is cheating me intentionally or he might be into some affair,” she told the media.
The MLA, however, has refuted the allegations. “As per norms, the marriage registration needs to be completed within 90 days of applying for it. We still have 60 days left for marriage registration. I haven’t received any information from anyone regarding registration of marriage today,” he had said.
Notably, Somalika released some of their intimate pictures on social media when Bijay expressed his reluctance to marry her after differences cropped up between them. Following this, Bijay was under pressure to patch up with Somalika. With the mediation of their lawyers, both finally agreed to get married legally and applied for marriage registration at the office of the Sub-Registrar on May 17.
