Bhubaneswar: Three college students were killed in hit-and-run accidents in Angul and Balangir districts of Odisha on Sunday.
All the three persons were on morning walk when the accident took place, sources said.
In Angul, two Plus II students were run over by a speeding vehicle on NH49 near Muktapur under Pallahara police limits. They have been identified as Rajesh Sundhi and Madab Kumar Samad, both students of Malyagiri Mahavidyalaya, Pallahara, sources said.
Meanwhile in Balangir, locals staged a road blockade after a pick-up van run over a tribal youth, killing him on the spot, near Gedabanjhi Chhak at Patnagarh. The blockade has affected vehicular traffic between Balangir and Patnagarh. Police soon reached the spot and pacified the agitators.
According to sources, the accident took place when the deceased, Purushottam Bhoi, was taking a morning walk with four of the friends. He was a Plus II student of Sahajbahal college and was staying with his uncle at Telbali village. He wanted to join the armed forces, sources added
