Bhopal: You have heard of ‘most wanted’ criminals with big rewards on their heads.
But a most wanted’ monkey?
Yes that’s true.
A monkey, with a bounty of Rs 21,000 on its head, was caught on Wednesday after terrorising people of Rajgarh town in Madhya Pradesh for a fortnight, during which it attacked 20 people, including 8 children.
A rescue team had to be summoned from Ujjain to catch the ferocious monkey.
The team, with the help of local officials and residents, located the monkey using a drone. They managed to tranquilise the monkey using darts and put it in a cage.
“The municipality did not have the means to catch that monkey. We reached out to the District Collector and with his help, called in a rescue team of the forest department from Ujjain. The municipality staff and local residents helped them, but it still took 4 hours to catch the monkey,” Rajgarh municipal corporation’s chairman Vinod Sahu said.
“We had offered a cash prize of Rs 21,000 for catching the monkey. We will give it to the animal rescue team now,” he disclosed.
