Balasore: Former Union minister and BJP MP Pratap Sarangi was admitted to hospital following complaint of chest pain in Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday.
Sarangi had gone to attend the function oragnised for laying foundation for development of Bhubaneswar railway station on December 29. On his return to Balasore in a train same day, the Balasore MP fell ill.
On consultation with doctor for cold and fever, he was prescribed medicines. Though he was taking medicines as advised by the doctor, there was little improvement in his condition.
On the day, he felt chest pain and was rushed to Fakir Mohan Medical College and Hospital at Balasore. Later, he was admitted to ICU. He has been diagnosed with pneumonia.
After his election as MP in 2019 election, Sarangi was the Union Minister of State for Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries and Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises. He was dropped from the ministry two years after.
