Chennai: ‘The Kerala Story, which was released two days ago, continues to court controversy.

The Vipul Shah-produced movie, which is about a group of women who join the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria after being converted to Islam, has already been boycotted in several places in Kerala despite the Kerala High Court declining a stay to screen it.

Now, multiplex theatres in Tamil Nadu have halted screening of the Adah Sharma starrer from today, citing the law and order situation and poor crowd response.

The Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) party, led by its organiser, actor and director Seeman, staged a protest rally against the release of the film at Anna Nagar Arch, near Skywalk Mall in Chennai.

NTK cadres, who held a protest inside the theatre, were detained by police.

Seeman appealed to theatre owners not to screen the film and urged people not to watch it, reported ANI.

Seeman earlier claimed that ‘The Kerala Story’ is anti-Muslim and demanded that Puducherry and Tamil Nadu governments ban its screening.
