Cuttack: The Cuttack administration shut Mundali toll gate near Athagarh till further notice, a day after an alleged assault on Chhattisgarh tourists on Tuesday.
Four employees of the toll gate have also been arrested under Section 147, 148, 341, 384, 323, 324, 325, 307, 427, 506, 354 (B) and 149 of the IPC, a police officer said.
The incident took place when 70 tourists were travelling in two buses to Rameswaram and Puri and were returning to Chhattisgarh via Odisha with Nandankanan as the last stop. The two buses crossed Mahanadi and stopped at the toll gate in Mundali where they were asked cough up Rs 1,000 and this led to an argument between the tourists and employees, who were then joined by a group of goon. Eleven tourists were injured after being attacked with wooden planks and sticks. Some women and children, who were also injured, were taken to a hospital at Athagarh.
