Cuttack: A murder convict on parole was found dead in his house at Barahipur village under Mahanga police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Saturday.
His parole period was to end the following day.
According to sources, Rajkishore Nayak was serving a life sentence and lodged in Choudwar jail after being convicted for a murder in 2008. He was released on parole in May this year amid a rise in COVID cases.
His family members claimed that Rajkishore committed suicide as he did not want to return to the jail, where he was allegedly tortured.
Meanwhile, police have seized the body for postmortem and investigation has started to ascertain the reason behind his death.
