Bhubaneswar: Panchpatmali Central and North Block Bauxite Mines of National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) in Odisha’s Koraput have been conferred with 5-star rating by the Union Ministry of Mines following a stringent evaluation process by Indian Bureau of Mines.
The 5-star ‘award’, along with certificate of excellence was presented by Union Minister for Coal, Parliamentary Affairs and Mines Pralhad Joshi.
Bijay Kumar Das, Nalco’s Director (Production), received the coveted award during the 6th National Conclave on Mines & Mineral held at Delhi.
Nalco was rewarded for its efforts and initiatives undertaken in implementation of Sustainable Development Framework (SDF).
SDF includes scientific and efficient mining, implementation of best practices in mining operations, rehabilitation & reclamation of mined out area, environment protection, as also various steps taken in healthcare, skill and peripheral development.
“This award is testimony to our deep commitment towards sustainable and eco-friendly mining, which is at the core of our mining operations,” said Nalco CMD Sridhar Patra.
