New Delhi: The country is in mourning today following the death of renowned industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata, who passed away late Wednesday night at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. Tata, who had been battling a prolonged illness, breathed his last at the age of 86, leaving behind a monumental legacy in business and philanthropy.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the many who expressed deep sorrow over Tata’s passing. Taking to social media, PM Modi wrote, “Ratan Tata was a visionary business leader, a kind soul, and an extraordinary human being. His humility, kindness, and unwavering commitment to improving our society earned him a special place in many hearts.” The Prime Minister’s words encapsulated the sentiments of a grieving nation, which has long admired Tata for his transformative contributions to India’s economy and his steadfast humanitarian efforts.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also mourned Tata’s demise, noting, “Ratan Tata was a stalwart of Indian industry. I am deeply saddened by his passing.” Fellow industrialist Anand Mahindra echoed these sentiments, writing, “I am unable to accept the absence of Ratan Tata. India’s economy stands on the cusp of historic growth, and Ratan’s life and work played a crucial role in getting us here.”

Across political lines, leaders paid their respects to the industrial icon. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared his condolences, remarking, “Ratan Tata was a man of vision, leaving an indelible mark on both business and philanthropy.” The Congress party also issued a statement, calling Tata’s death an “irreparable loss” to Indian business and society. “Padma Vibhushan Shri Ratan Tata shaped the corporate landscape of India and leaves behind a legacy that will inspire generations,” the statement read.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu reflected on Tata’s enduring influence, writing, “Few people have left a lasting mark on this world like Ratan Tata, with his foresight and integrity. Today, we have lost not just a business giant, but a true humanitarian whose legacy lives in every heart he touched, beyond the industrial landscape.”

As tributes pour in from across the country and the world, it is clear that Ratan Tata’s passing is more than just the loss of an industrialist—it is the departure of a man whose contributions transcended the business world, touching the lives of millions through his philanthropy, vision, and kindness.
