Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday made a major announcement for families affected by the Hirakud dam.
The CM announced the allotment of homestead land to more than 2,000 displaced families.
Naveen made the announcement during a programme in Jharsuguda to launch the distribution of Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojna (BSKY) smart cards. He didn’t travel to Jharsuguda to attend the event but joined it virtually.
On November 13, Naveen visited Bijepur in Bargarh district to launch the distribution of 3.63 lakh BSKY cards in 12 blocks.
Congress workers were allegedly beaten up by BJD activists before Naveen arrived in Bijepur.
Before that on November 8, the CM launched the health card at a programme in Kalahandi’s Bhawanipatna. In that event, Minister of State for Home Dibya Shankar Mishra, who is facing the onslaught of the Opposition in the Mamita Meher murder case, shared the dais with the CM.
During both visits by the CM, the BJP and Congress staged protests demanding justice for Mamita and the minister’s dismissal.
