Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday called upon 1,294 newly appointed government officials to work with the goal of ensuring public welfare.
He was speaking at an orientation programme of the officials who joined different departments at a function in Bhubaneswar. While 725 officials joined the School & Mass Education department, 280 joined the Finance department and 129 the Rural Development department.
Besides, 160 outstanding sports persons joined the departments of Steel & Mines, Revenue & Disaster Management, Higher Education, S&ME and Home.
The Chief Minister said the government has been working hard to bring transformative changes in the lives of people and they should contribute their might in this regard. “Every job has its own significance in achieving the goal of greater public good. You should remember that the people are paying for our work and we are here to serve them,” he added.
Naveen also expressed his happiness over selection of many sports persons for appointment to various posts as it would encourage the sporting talents.
“The appointment of such a huge number of officials will accelerate our endeavor for filling up vacancies in the government. We have been recruiting on a regular basis. This strengthens our capacity to serve the people,” he said.
Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh, School & Mass Education Minister Sudam Marndi and Rural Development Minister Priti Ranjan Ghadai were present on the occasion.
