Bhubaneswar: Pramod Bhagat and Soundarya Kumar were felicitated by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and presented cash awards for their brilliant performance in the Asian Para Games at China’s Hangzhou.
Bhagat received Rs 2 crore and Soundarya Rs 1.5 crore.
Shuttler Bhagat won gold in men’s singles, and a bronze each in men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
Chess player Soundarya’s haul was a gold in team competition and silver in individual event.
“I am incredibly proud to felicitate our para athletes Pramod Bhagat and Soundarya Kumar for their outstanding achievements at the Asian Para Games. Their dedication, talent, and perseverance have brought immense glory to our state. Their triumphs are an inspiration to all of us,” Naveen said.
The Odisha CM assured both para athletes of unwavering support in their journey ahead, including Bhagat’s preparation for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chairman 5T and Nabin Odisha VK Pandian extended his best wishes to the athletes.
