Naveen Inaugurates Two Units Of Odisha’s Largest Thermal Power Plant

Jharsuguda: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the 3rd and 4th units of Odisha Power Generation Corporation’s Ib Thermal Power Station at Banharpali in Jharsuguda district on Friday.

“Once commissioned, these two thermal units, developed at an investment of Rs 15,000 crore, will provide additional 1,320 MW to the state for the next 25 years,” he said.

The chief minister also inaugurated a coal mine at Manoharpur in Sundargarh district through video conference. “The state government plans to construct a new railway line on its own to supply raw materials from the Manoharpur coal mines to OPGC,” he said.

The plant will be supplied 8 million tonnes of coal annually from Manoharpur Coal Mines. The state government owns the Odisha Coal and Power Limited mines at Manoharpali, sources said.
