Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday launched ‘Mukhya Mantri Sabha Ghar’ (chief minister meeting room) scheme in western Odisha.
Under the scheme, 2,000 Kalyan Mandaps and local auditoriums will be constructed with a cost of Rs 25 crore in western Odisha. The scheme will be taken up under 5T initiative of the state government aims at promoting socio-cultural activities of the people.
Speaking on the occasion through video-conference, the chief minister said the development of western Odisha has always been in the focus of the state government. “The budget of Western Odisha Development Council (WODC) has been doubled for the purpose. I have been meeting the people’s representatives of the region regularly on development projects to be taken up by the government,” he added.
Stating that western region plays a crucial role in development of the entire state, Naveen said the government has implemented various schemes and projects in agriculture, industry, mining, education and art and culture for economic upliftment of the people of the area.
“The works on transformation of Maa Samaleswari, Harisankar and Nrusinghnath temples are going on and steps are being taken for development of infrastructure of other temples. All the projects are implemented through chief minister’s office,” Naveen said.
The video-conference was attended by minister Tukuni Sahu from Titlagarh, Rita Sahu from Bargarh and Rajendra Prasad Dholakia from Deogarh. Chairman of WODC Asit Tripathy was also present.
The chief minister also laid foundation stone and inaugurated several projects worth Rs 33.58 crore on the occasion. Those include Gadiajor bridge in Balangir, town hall in Titlagarh, eco museum in Bargarh, auditorium in Deogarh, students’ hostel of Brajmohan high school in Kalahandi and auditorium of GM College in Sambalpur.
