Bhubaneswar: Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has been nominated as the Best Administrator in India in the Outlook Speakout Awards.
An online survey conducted by the magazine placed Naveen as the topmost administrator along with five other chief ministers Nitish Kumar (Bihar), Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Devendra Fadnavis (Maharashtra), Manik Sarkar (Tripura) and Siddaramaiah (Karnataka).
“The 71-year-old Naveen Patnaik has been the chief minister of Odisha for more than 17 years, a feat accomplished by only a few leaders, such as Jyoti Basu, elsewhere in the country. Many attribute the success of the Biju Janata Dal president, son of former chief minister Biju Pattnaik, to his good work as an administrator,” the online magazine stated.
Besides his ‘mild manners’ and ‘stand against corruption’, Naveen’s handling of the situation arising out of various cyclones are considered to be a copybook lesson in disaster management, it added.
The magazine has also nominated BJD MP Tathagata Satpathy as one of the best Parliamentarian.
