Naveen Speaks To Foreign Minister Jaishankar On Safe Return Of Odias From Ukraine

Bhubaneswar: After speaking to Union Home Minister on safe return of Odias stranded in Ukraine, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik took up the matter with Union External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Friday.

Following fervent appeals by the parents of Odia youths pursuing studies and labourers working in Ukraine, the chief minister expressed his concern about their safety to Union ministers.

While speaking to Jaishankar over phone, Naveen discussed the safe return of Odia students and workers who are unable to return to India after Russia waged a war against Ukraine.

During the discussion, Jaishankar assured the chief minister of taking all possible steps for safe evacuation of Indians stranded in the European which saw invasion of Russian forces and missile attacks since Thursday.

Earlier the chief minister had spoken to Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the issue and announced to bear the expenses for return of Odias from Ukraine. Shah assured Naveen that the Centre was in touch with the Ukraine government and was working to bring back Indians at the earliest.

More than 1,500 students from Odisha are caught in Ukraine’s war zones, desperately awaiting evacuation.
