New Delhi: A mob of around 100 workers, allegedly belonging to Congress students’ wing National Students Union of India (NSUI), reportedly barged into the Delhi office of National Testing Agency (NTA) on Thursday and briefly locked it from inside to protest irregularities in NEET-UG medical entrance exam.

According to eyewitnesses, NSUI members were heard shouting “NTA bandh karobandh karo” (shut down NTA) while they marched inside the agency’s office.

After NSUI workers came out and left the scene, there was heavy police deployment there, NDTV reported.

This happened hours after Indian Youth Congress protested near the Parliament, where President Droupadi Murmu was addressing a joint session.

More than 24 lakh students had appeared in the NEET-UG 2024 exam on May 5 and the results were declared on June 4 — 10 days ahead of scheduled date. Allegations of irregularities in the conduct of the exam and paper leaks emerged, leading to countrywide protests.

An unprecedented 67 students topped the exam with a perfect score of 720.

After petitions were filed in courts by students, the Supreme Court allowed re-test of 1,563 students who were awarded grace marks.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case, on Thursday arrested two persons from Patna on Thursday.
