New Delhi: The number of NEET-UG exam toppers dropped from 61 to 17 as the National Testing Agency (NTA) released the re-revised merit list of the controversy-ridden medical entrance exam on Friday.

The result was declared following a directive from the Supreme Court after taking into account marks of a physics question, which the NTA had said has two correct answers.

While some students had contended that two of the four options could be deemed correct based on different NCERT books, a expert panel of IIT-Delhi determined that only one answer to a physics question was correct. As a result, students who selected the other option lost five marks (four for the incorrect answer and one negative mark), significantly impacting the rankings of all examinees, including 44 NEET UG 2024 toppers who were awarded grace marks for the question.

This is the fourth time the result has been released. The NEET UG first result was issued on June 4, second on June 30 and third on July 20.

Candidates can view the re-revised merit list on the official website at exams.nta.ac.in
