Bhubaneswar: The Ministry of Railways on Tuesday sanctioned new broad gauge (BG) line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur.
The length of the new BG line will be 38 km. The Rs 747.91 crore project to be implemented on cost-sharing basis (50 per cent by ministry of railways and 50 per cent by Odisha government) is expected to be completed in three years.
The project assumes significance as it aims to connect Nabarangpur district with Jeypore, an existing station on Kottavalasa-Kirandul line. Once implemented, the railway line will also provide connectivity to Koraput, Jeypore, Jagdalpur and Dantewada. Further, the line will also connecting Nabarangpur with Junagarh in Kalahandi district. It will result in short lead to many places of Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh.
The state government will be bearing the total cost of land and 50 per cent of the construction cost, official sources said.
