Bhubaneswar: In a good news for the visitors to New Delhi in New Year, the bars and restaurants in star hotels in the national capital will remain open for 24 hours everyday.
In order to ensure ease of doing business in the hospitality sector and provide a fillip to the nighttime economy, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has eased licensing processes for running eateries, bars, restaurants, guesthouses and hotels.
As per the initiatives, all restaurants and eateries in 4 and 5-star hotels within airport, railway station and ISBT premises will be permitted to operate on 24X7 basis after payment of necessary fee. In three star hotels, those will be allowed to operate till 2 am, and in all other categories, the facilities can operate till 1 am.
Besides, the ceiling of one restaurant getting bar licence for 4 and 5 star hotels has been lifted. As a result, these hotels can obtain separate licenses for more than one restaurant/bar for serving liquor on the hotel premises.
While the number of document for getting licenses has been drastically reduced, an applicant will be able to get his licence within a maximum of 49 days, according to an Indian Today report.
