Bhubaneswar: A newborn girl was found abandoned close to Maharaja Cinema Hall near Acharya Vihar in Bhubaneswar, which is under a thick blanket of security for the DG-IG Conference, on Friday.
According to sources, some slum dwellers found the baby girl lying unattended around 3 am and later informed police, which got her admitted to Capital Hospital here.
Hospital authorities said the baby girl is in good health.
“I heard the baby crying when I woke up at around 3-3:30 to attend nature’s call. We brought her inside and wrapped her in warm cloths since it was cold outside. It is a newborn, even its umbilical cord has not fallen,” an elderly woman said.
Police have begun a probe to trace those who abandoned the child.
