Bhadrak: A newly married couple allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison at Sanpur village under Dhamnagar police limits in Bhadrak district on Thursday night.
The incident took place at around 1 am. The duo was rescued by neighbours and rushed to Dhamnagar hospital and later shifted to the district headquarters hospital after their condition deteriorated. They succumbed while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
According to locals, Dharmendra Tripathy, son of Satyaranjan Tripathy of Sanpur village had married Purnima Das, daughter of Nilamani Das hailing from Banki area in Cuttack district, on May 9 this year. However, there were frequent quarrels between the two families over some issues. This could be the reason behind their extreme step.
