Bhubaneswar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday picked up two persons from Odisha in connection with the Birbhum violence in the neighbouring West Bengal. They are being questioned in Bhubaneswar, sources said.

Notably, six women and two children were burnt to death in violence in Bengal’s Birbhum district on the night of March 21 following the death of panchayat deputy pradhan Bhadu Sheikh in a bomb attack at Bagtui village in Birbhum district. Police had then attributed the killings to ‘deep-rooted personal enmity’.
