Koraput: A two-member team of National Investigating Agency (NIA) arrived here on Thursday to interrogate top Maoist leader Dubasi Sankar alias Arun in connection with the killing of four personnel of the Border Security Force (BSF), including a commandant, in an ambush by the ultras near Malkangiri’s Balimela in February 2012.
A member of Special Zonal Committee of Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) Arun was nabbed near Petaguda forest in Koraput’s Boipariguda on September 14 this year.
According to sources, NIA team has sought permission from Jeypore SDJM court to interrogate Arun. He is currently lodged in Koraput Central jail.
A native of Muttarasi Chetla village in Medak district of Telangana, he was carrying a reward of Rs 20 lakh on his head. He was allegedly involved in the 2009 Damanjodi attack in which nine CISF jawans were killed and in a bomb blast at Govindapalli in 2010 in which eleven police personnel from Odisha were killed. It was also suspected that Arun had a hand in the 2012 Maoist attack.
