Keonjhar: Hundreds of activists of Nabanirman Krushak Sangathan (NKS), an Odisha-based farmers’ outfit, staged a massive protest before Telkoi block office in Keonjhar district seeking fulfillment of various demands.
“Around 60 per cent of Indian population depends on agriculture sector as their principal means of livelihood. So, they should get the actual price for their produce”, NKS advisor Soumya Ranjan Patnaik said.
Later, a delegation of the farmers’ outfit handed over a memorandum to the Telkoi block development officer demanding a hike in the minimum support price of paddy to Rs 5, 000 per quintal and Rs 5,000 security allowance for farmers from age of 20 years.
