Bhubaneswar: While the voter turnout in the Bhubaneswar Lok Sabha constituency remained less than 60 per cent in the 2019 polls, over 5500 of the voters chose not to vote for any candidate contesting from the high-profile seat.
As per the Election Commission of India’s latest figures, 5589 voters opted for the ‘None Of The Above’ (NOTA) option.
The Bhubaneswar Parliamentary constituency comprises a mix of urban and rural voters and politically alert citizens. It is assumed that a handful of this class of voters expressed their rejection by pressing the NOTA option.
In all, 14 candidates had contested from this seat. Aparajita Sarangi of BJP was leading from his nearest rival Arup Patnaik of BJD by over 20,000 votes.
