New Delhi: The national capital will have zero COVID-19 restrictions from February 28 (Monday).

The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) on Friday decided to lift all pandemic-related curbs. DDMA took another significant decision, allowing schools to discontinue online/hybrid mode of education and starting physical classes from April 1.

Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal welcomed the move but urged people to continue following COVID-appropriate behaviour.

“DDMA withdraws all restrictions as situation improves and people facing hardships due to loss of jobs. Schools to function fully offline from 1 April. Fines for not wearing masks reduced to Rs 500. All should continue following Covid appropriate behaviour. Government will keep strict watch,” Kejriwal tweeted.

The complete easing of curbs was due to the COVID positivity rate continuing to be around 1% or less in Delhi.

Monday onwards, following there will be changes in Delhi:

* Fine for not wearing a mask will be reduced from Rs 2,000 to Rs 500

* Night curfew withdrawn

* Markets to stay open till 10 pm

* Restaurants, bars, cafes and cinema halls can function at 100% seating capacity

The restrictions were imposed last December when the Omicron-driven third wave of COVID-19 pandemic hit India.
