Mumbai: If grapevine is to be believed, the Karan Johar-hosted controversial chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’, which drew flak after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise, will be going off-air soon.
After B-town’s promising actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s tragic demise, Karan has become a punching bag for netizens, who are slamming the filmmaker for nepotism.
Netizens called out KJo’s controversial chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’ for making fun of Sushant and other outsiders in the industry.
Now as per reports, Star World channel, which was hosting KJo’s chat show, is planning to wrap up its services in India.
At first, the channel had plans of shifting the chat show to some other channel, but after taking note of the controversy surrounding the chat show, the makers have decided to wrap it up completely.
A source close to the channel said, “Plans to shut down Star World were afoot for some time now. And Star had decided to move Karan Johar’s chat show to another channel owned by the group. But now with all the unsavoury controversy surrounding the chat show after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, Star has decided to close it down.”
Post Sushant’s demise, Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt are being bitterly trolled for making fun of the late actor on the show.
Talking about the controversial show, once, actor Ranbir Kapoor had said, “I told him (Karan) I don’t want to come. Me and Anushka are actually going to protest and get the entire film industry together to stop this because it’s not fair. He’s making money out of us. We come and we get screwed through the air. It’s not right.”
After being trolled mercilessly, Karan has distanced himself from social media platforms.
Earlier, there were reports that KJo has even resigned from the board of the MAMI film festival.
