Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and Ghasipura MLA Badri Narayan Patra on Saturday claimed that no political party in Odisha is capable of challenging the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who has been wholeheartedly working for the development of all sections of the society, particularly women.
“No political party in Odisha has the ability to counter Naveen Patnaik and challenge his leadership. I do not believe that any party in the state is in a position to gain the ability to compete with him in future,” the former minister told reporters.
Asserting that Naveen has been working for the development of all sections, Patra said the state government under his leadership has always given importance to the progress and welfare of women, particularly through Mission Shakti.
Women across the state are being immensely benefited by a number of schemes being implemented under this programme, the BJD legislator said, adding that steps taken by the state government have ensured economic empowerment of women.
“Women in the state are now not only capable of running household affairs but are also taking leadership in a host of other activities,” he said.
Hitting out at opposition parties, the BJD leader said no other political party is giving so much importance to women.
To a query, he said it is the job of the opposition parties to oppose, but the government continues to work for the development of the state and its people.
