Mumbai: After netizens call out for boycott of Mira Nair’s miniseries ‘A Suitable Boy’, actress Swara Bhasker took to her Twitter handle to slam them for the same.
Taking on netizens, Swara stated that when people can be unaffected by the Kathua rape case, then they have no right to get offended over the kissing scene in ‘A Suitable Boy’.
“If the actual #Kathua gangrape of an 8-year-old child inside a temple didn’t make your blood boil and soul shrivel; you have no right to be offended about a fictionalized depiction of a kiss in a temple. #fact #ASuitableBoy #BoycottNetflix. In 2018, an eight-year-old girl was allegedly bound, sedated, and gang-raped inside a temple in the Rasana village of Kathua before she was killed. Swara had joined the silent protest and shared a picture of herself holding a placard which read, “I am Hindustan. I am Ashamed. #JusticeForOurChild. 8 years old. Gangraped. Murdered. In ‘Devi’-sthaan temple,” tweeted Swara.
The scene, which has sparked outrage, includes a couple (Lata and Kabir), belonging to different religions, kissing on the premises of a temple.
Earlier this month, two Netflix executives were booked by the Madhya Pradesh Police for allegedly hurting religious sentiments by showing a Hindu woman and a Muslim man exchanging a kiss at a Hindu temple.
