The MeT office has forecast rainfall activity in the state till 8.30 am on June 2 and there will be no large change in the day temperature during the next 4-5 days.

“Odisha would witness a rise in day temperature as Nor’wester rainfall activity will not be significant between May 27 and June 9. The mercury level is expected to rise further between June 3 and 9,” Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre Scientist,  Umasankar Das told TNIE.

Weather experts attributed it to the weakening of coastal winds and no significant system like a trough or cyclonic circulation.

With conditions becoming favourable, the southwest monsoon is likely to hit the Kerala coast during the next 2-3 days. “The conditions are also favourable for further advance of Southwest Monsoon into some more parts of the Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep area during the same period,” the IMD said.
