Bhubaneswar: Nor’wester or thunderstorm will provide much-needed relief from the blistering heat scorching Odisha, during the next 3-4 days, the regional meteorological centre tweeted on Friday.
The Met office has also withdrawn the heatwave warning issued by it for the day. “The day temperature is likely to fall by 2 to 4 degree Celsius in three days,” it added.
Thunderstorm activity is likely to prevail for the next 3-4 days.
According to All India Weather Forecast Bulletin, heatwave conditions is likely at isolated pockets in Odisha on April 21. The state may also experience light isolated rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning between April 21 and April 24. Thunderstorm with lightning is expected on April 21 and April 22 while the state may witness thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) the following day. The forecast for thunderstorm with lightning continues till April 25.
Notably, Bhubaneswar turned a hot cauldron on Thursday as the day temperature soared to 43.2 degree Celsius. Eleven places in the state recorded maximum temperature of 42 degree Celsius or more on the day with Boudh being the hottest at 43.9 degree Celsius.
The IMD had earlier said that heatwave may continue to prevail for another 24 hours and issued yellow warning issued for Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur and Boudh. On April 22-23, several districts in the state are likely to experience thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph with more widespread rain, which may lead to a gradual fall in the day temperature by 2 to 4 degree Celsius, it had added in its Thursday bulletin.
