Cuttack: Noted writer Shyam Sundar Mishra passed away at his residence in Cuttcak’s Jhanjirimangala on Sunday. He was 89.
He had been keeping unwell for the last few days.
Mishra was born in 1932. After completing schooling at Ranihat High School, he enrolled for higher studies in the erstwhile Ravenshaw College. He has completed his MA from Ravenshaw College in 1955.
Dr Mishra’s famous literary works include social novel ‘Chakori’, a political novel ‘Jogajanma’, ‘Odia Sahitya Ra Bhinna Diganta’, small stories’ book ‘Swayam Sampurnna’ and ‘Dhinki De Chamkai’, children book ‘Mahat Sahiba Jana’, ‘Anupama’, ‘Katha Sarita Sagar’, and translated book ‘John Bims Jaibani’ and many more.
Besides, he was a active member of Utkal Sahitya Samaj, Saras Sahitya Samiti, Utkal Sammilani, Sikhsha Bikash Samiti, and Lekhaka Sahajoga Samiti.
Mishra is survived by his three sons Deepak, Alok, and Rupak, daughters-in-law and grandchildren.
