Cuttack: A notorious criminal was injured in an exchange of gunfire
with police in Cuttack on Friday night.
The criminal was identified as Tapan Nayak.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of Mangalabag police conducted a
raid at Jobra area to nab tried to nab Tapan. Sensing trouble, the
criminal opened fire at the team, injuring inspector-in-charge Debi
Patra and a constable.
As the raiding team retaliated back, the criminal sustained injury on
his left leg. He was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a
critical condition.
According to police sources, more than 11 criminal cases are pending
against Nayak at different police stations.
