New Delhi: It’s Arvind Kejriwal’s turn to face the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The probe agency has summoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for questioning in the liquor policy case on April 16.
Reacting to the CBI’s latest summon, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh tweeted “there will definitely be an end to tyranny” and the party will be addressing a press conference this evening.
CBI and Enforcement Directorate (ED) have already questioned Kejriwal’s personal assistant Bibhav Kumar in connection with the excise policy case.
CBI arrested Delhi Deputy CM and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia in February after being questioned for over eight hours.
Sisodia was arrested under Section 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 477 A (intent to defraud) of IPC and Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption Act.
Last July, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended a CBI probe into allegations of the liquor excise policy providing “undue benefits” to certain liquor vendors. In August, CBI raided more than 20 locations in Delhi-NCR and Punjab, including Sisodia’s house.
Bibhav, Sisodia and others have been accused of using, destroying and changing 170 phones to receive kickbacks worth thousands of crores in the liquor policy case.
