Sonepur: A farmer of Salepalli village under Dunguripali block in Odisha’s Sonepur district has been served notice for over Rs 10 crore tax fraud.
Refuting the alleged fraud, the farmer has apprised the Income Tax (IT) and Sales Tax departments about having no knowledge of any such transactions.
Such aberrations have also been reported from Rourkela and Balangir districts, where driver, delivery agents and farmers have been slapped with GST fraud notice.
This seems to have become the modus operandi of certain unscrupulous tax evaders, who operate by opening fake firms.
