Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will officially launch the CM Kisan Yojana at Gangadhar Meher University auditorium on the occasion of Nuakhai on Sunday during his two-day visit to Sambalpur.

He will also inaugurate the portal for the scheme at 4 pm.

It is likely to be attended by Union Education Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari, Minister of Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Rabi Narayan Naik and Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra.

This initiative, which replaces KALIA scheme of the previous BJD government, aims to empower small and marginal farmers, as well as landless agricultural households, across the state. Majhi had earlier described CM-Kisan as a top-up in addition to Rs 6,000 provided under PM-Kisan in a year in three instalments of Rs 2000 each.

Under the scheme, registered farmers will be receive financial assistance of Rs 4,000 annually in two phases. In the first phase, i.e., on Nuakhai, the farmers will get Rs 2000, and the remaining amount on Akshaya Tritiya. Additionally, landless agricultural families, who were not covered under PM Kisan Yojana, will be eligible for Rs 12,500, provided in three instalments.

The eligible farmers will have to register on the CM Kisan web portal to avail the benefit. They can register for the same at Jana Seva Kendras following the launch of the scheme. For further details, the farmers can also contact nearby Agriculture department or call on Krushi Samrudhi helpline number 155333.

“Today, I announced in the assembly that the CM-Kisan Yojana is set to be launched in our state, ensuring that all eligible farmers will be incorporated into the programme. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will receive an annual sum of Rs 4000 in two instalments, while landless farmers will be granted Rs 12,500 in three instalments. The payments are scheduled for Akshay Tritiya and Nuakhai. I strongly advise farmers to register through the CM-Kisan Grievance Portal for inclusion in the scheme. Additionally, the PM Kisan assistance will be disbursed to all registered and eligible farmers under the PM Kisan scheme’s criteria. We are also making arrangements to include all state farmers who meet the PM-Kisan Yojana requirements in the PM Kisan Harmanidh Yojana,” Deputy Chief Minister K V Singh Deo, who holds the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment portfolio, had earlier tweeted.

For the fiscal year 2024-25, the Odisha government has allocated a substantial Rs 1,935 crore to support the CM-Kisan scheme.

However, it is not clear if all 64.79 lakh KALIA beneficiaries will be covered under CM-Kisan. Over 45.67 lakh small and marginal farmers and 19.12 lakh landless farmers were beneficiaries under KALIA. Around 29.73 lakh farmers are PM-Kisan beneficiaries.

The Mohan Majhi government has also made a provision of Rs 5,000 crore under ‘Samrudh Krushak Yojana’ in the current fiscal to meet the promised bonus of Rs 800 per quintal to farmers over and above the minimum support price of Rs 2,300 per quintal of paddy. It has increased the allocation for agriculture and allied sectors by nearly 37 per cent from Rs 24,829 crore in 2023-24 to Rs 33,919 crore in 2024-25.
