Bhubaneswar: The state government on Saturday transferred the money under KALIA scheme to the accounts of the farmers as a gift on the occasion of Nuakhai festival.
The government disbursed Rs 2,000 each to around 37 lakh farmers under the Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) scheme.
Disbursing total Rs 742.58 crore to the farmers for rabi crops, Chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday said the state government was aware of their problems and he had personally taken up the fertilizer crisis faced by them with the Central government. Besides, he has been drawing the attention of the Centre to MSP and crop insurance issues of the farmers, Naveen added.
Stating that Odisha has received deficient rainfall in August this year, he hoped that this month’s rainfall would compensate it and the farmers can have a good harvest.
Agriculture minister Arun Kumar Sahoo also wished the farmers on the occasion and highlighted different farm schemes of the government. Secretary to chief minister (5T) VK Pandian coordinated the programme.
