Nuapada: The very sight of police personnel often arouses fear and apprehension among the masses. Instead of feeling safe and secure, people get worried on seeing a police personnel.

However, things have been changing in course of time due to change of approach and attitude of the masses and a slew of outreach programmes undertaken by the police.

The Sadar Police Station in Odisha’s Nuapada has changed the perception of the masses towards police by turning its garden into a park for the locals. “Earlier, we were feeling scared to come to police station. Now, we visit here twice daily for its garden,” said  a local resident.

The lush greenery and a variety of flowers in the garden of the police station provide an ambiance of relaxation and peace to the visitors. The visit also provides an opportunity for the locals and the police to interact better and strengthen the bond.

DIG of Police Charan Singh Meena had recently dedicated the garden to the public during his visit to Nuapada. Similar projects will also be launched at other police stations in the state, he had added.
