Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) has decided to institute a Lifetime Achievement Award which will be presented annually, starting from this year.
The award will carry a cheque for Rs 5 lakh, it was announced after the meeting of OCA’s Apex Council on Friday.
The late Prashant Mohapatra will be the first recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to cricket.
Odisha’s former Ranji Trophy captain Prashant succumbed to COVID-19 in May last year.
He played 45 first-class matches, scoring 2.196 runs including 5 centuries and 11 fifties. Besides Odisha, he also represented East Zone in Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy. Post retirement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India appointed Prashant as a match referee.
