Odia BSF Jawan’s Mortal Remains Consigned To Flames With Full State Honour In Puri Village

Puri: The mortal remains of Odia BSF jawan Pratap Ranjan Parida were consigned to flames at Malla village under Gop block of Puri district with full state honour on Monday.

The jawan died under mysterious circumstances in Meghalaya where he was posted. His body had arrived in Bhubaneswar in a special aircraft on Sunday evening. It was taken to the BSF camp after arrival in Odisha capital.

The mortal remains were taken to his ancestral village for the last rites. The funeral took place at the village cremation ground with full state honour in the presence of a large number of people.

Parida’s elder brother is working with the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) while his younger brother had died in a road mishap two years ago. He is survived by a son and a daughter.

The family members of Parida were informed about his death by the BSF officials. They were told that Parida was proceeding towards a ghat from Tura camp when he fell into a roadside ditch and died.

While the reason for Parida’s death is still a mystery, a pall of gloom descended on the village as the news broke.

His family members, including wife Satyabhama Parida, alleged that Parida was murdered. They demanded a CBI probe to unravel the truth and bring the culprits to book.
