Bhubaneswar: Producers of Odia film ’Daman’ have lodged a complaint with the cyber police alleging that pirated versions of the movie have been illegally uploaded on You Tube channels hours after its release in cinema halls.
Soon after lodging a complaint at the Cyper police station in Bhubaneswar, they told media persons that the film was shot illegally inside the cinema hall after its release and then uploaded on You Tube channels.
Seeking immediate steps to block these channels and initiate legal action, the producers said some people have committed this illegal act in order to promote themselves, but causing huge loss to the filmmakers. “We appeal to them to delete the uploaded versions at the earliest,” they said.
According to reports, the movie has been shared on over 11 YouTube channels after it was released in cinema halls on Friday.
Directed by Devi Prasad Lenka and Vishal Mourya, the film features Babushan Mohanty and Dipanwit Dashmohapatra as lead characters.
With popular actor Babusan in the lead role of a doctor in a remote village of Malkangiri district, ‘Daman’ is based on real events. The film portrays the doctor’s relentless fight against superstitions of the people and struggle to make them aware of facts about malaria which is rampant in the area of his service.
His job is made all the more difficult for lack of road communication and telecom network in the remote village.
It may be mentioned here that the preview of the trailer had also got leaked before it was released on social media in January this year.
