Bhubaneswar: Odia girls have struck gold at the eighth National School Chess Tournament, which concluded at Raipur in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.
Yashita Rout from Khurda district won a Gold Medal in the U-11 Girls category and increased her ELO rating.
Cuttack girl Aiswarya Sahoo won a Gold medal in the U-7 girls category.
Besides, Swastik Subham Pattanaik of Cuttack won a Silver medal in the U-7 boys category and Sarthak Debata of Rourkela won a Bronze medal in the U-15 Boys category.
The competition began on April 3.
Yashita studies at the Loyola school here. This is the second National medal for her. In 2015, she had received a silver medal at a chess competition in the U-7 category in Chennai.
